For people who know me will know Kate's books are an instant One Click for me, they hook me from the very beginning. Her books usually pull at my heart concerning the plot, story and are usually very Character. Her Heroes are sexy, they have a protective streak in them and will do what is best for the heroines they're falling for. But her books keep me hooked from the beginning as they're EPIC LOVE Journeys 'for me' and keep me reading till the early hours, gah I can't tell you how much I adore Kate's beautiful books. I suppose one of the BIG reasons why they grab me is because they're so real to me yet have characters that have me smiling as well as cry. If you want to try something then read on and see if there is anything you fancy. Plus I was lucky enough to Interview Kate so...

Katy ~ Hi Kate it's so nice to have you with us, I can remember when I first picked up Fighting Redemption which made me fall in love with your stories and characters, I was gripped to my seat and kindle for hours at a time and again with The End Game for different reasons. But you write gripping books that have some form of serious meaning behind them (in those two I've read so far anyways) can you tell us anything about why you write true meaningful plots? Sorry a bit deep, but I'm intrigued to where you came up with those ideas.

Kate ~ Thanks for having me! There’s a different reason for each story. With Fighting Redemption it’s the Australian Soldier on the frontline, and this epic love he has for this one girl. I wanted to share this story and show what life is like not just for the soldier, but the impact it leaves on those they love when they get left behind. It’s a love that goes beyond anything, but it’s also not a perfect love, and it’s not a perfect life. I wanted it to be real. With The End Game, I wanted to share a story that showed the pressure of life in professional sport. We put these people up on pedestals having no idea what it’s taken for them to get there, and when they fall off, we tend to crucify them without knowing who they really are or what they’ve been through. This book is more than that though. It’s about believing in yourself. The road to believing in yourself can be easy, or it can rocky as f#*k, and full of a million obstacles (some of them painful lessons to be learned), but if you truly believe in who you are, you WILL TRY. That is what this book is about. And my Give Me series, well I’ve always been a fan of those action blockbuster movies, you know the car chases, explosions, shootouts, badass hotties with guns. It’s a series of standalones that have all that and more, but not just that, the heroine is also badass too. She puts herself out there and fights just as hard. These characters are also fun, and real, and sort of like my best friends.

Katy ~ I find your love stories pretty damn Epic, they take me to a different place, which is one of the big reasons I love romance and I love to read fiction in general. Can you tell us how you started writing and has it always been something you love to do?

Kate ~ Writing has always been a dream but something that I never thought I would get a chance to do. I started writing four years ago when I realised that it was now or never and I’ve never looked back!

Katy ~ Is there a special place you go to write??

Kate ~ Nope! I write wherever I can! In bed, at the kitchen counter while cooking dinner, in the car waiting for the kids to finish school!

Katy ~ Can you recommend a book and author you love to your readers??

Kate ~ This is a tough one. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Harry Potter series and JK Rowling. I’m a complete and utter potterhead! It’s not just the brilliant writing that catches me with these books but the epic imagination this author has. Suzanne Collins with the Hunger Games series and Veronica Roth with the Divergent series are incredible because of the way they created this whole new worlds and kickass characters. Writing like that is so inspiring!

Katy ~ What do you do to relax?

Kate ~ A nice lazy afternoon with a book, a comfy couch, and a glass of red wine is the ultimate relaxation for me!

Katy ~ I love music when I read, do you and if so what do you like?

Kate ~ I’m not huge into listening to music when I read, but when I write I have it blasting! I like all kinds except country music and usually the tone of the song has to fit the scene I’m writing. If it’s action, I need something techno and fast-paced, or epically sad, then you bring out the big guns, like Adele or Florence and the Machine. Whatever works in with the scene as it really helps you set the mood and tone of what you’re writing. Music is a great tool for that.

Katy ~ And lastly can you tell us anything that's in store for you next? (We want details LOL)

Kate ~ Yes! Details. Mackenzie Valentine is next up in Give Me Hell. This is from the Give Me series, which is a series of standalones and the characters in these books are like my best friends. They live in my head constantly and with this being the fourth book, they’ve been with me a long time. After that I’m writing a book titled Merrick. Another epic tale which follows the life of two young best friends, Aeryn Torres and Tait Merrick and how they lose each other, and when they grow up they find each other again after nuclear war strikes the world. Only Merrick has since been trained to take charge of the Underground, where those live who survived the fallout.

Ryan Kendall is broken. He understands pain. He knows the hand of violence and the ache of loss. He knows what it means to fail those who need you. Being broken doesn’t stop him wanting the one thing he can’t have; Finlay Tanner. Her smile is sweet and her future bright. She’s the girl he grew up with, the girl he loves, the girl he protects from the world, and from himself.

At nineteen, Ryan leaves to join the Australian Army. After years of training he becomes an elite SAS soldier and deploys to the Afghanistan war. His patrol undertakes the most dangerous missions a soldier can face. But no matter how far he runs, or how hard he fights, his need for Finlay won’t let go.

Returning home after six years, one look is all it takes to know he can’t live without her. But sometimes love isn’t enough to heal what hurts. Sometimes people like him can’t be fixed, and sometimes people like Finlay deserve more than what’s left.

This is a story about war and the cost of sacrifice. Where bonds are formed, and friendships found. Where those who are strong, fall hard. Where love is let go, heartache is born, and heroes are made. Where one man learns that the hardest fight of all, is the fight to save himself.

This review is before I blogged and made teasers of my own. So any teasers you see in this review have nothing to do with me, but ones I loved and pinned from Pinterest.

“Professional athletes are pillars of their respective communities. They are heroes in the eyes of boys and girls and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that positively represents their community.”

The public loves a good scandal. Seeing someone fall from the pinnacle of success makes a great headline. No one knows that better than I do. What started out as a promising career in college football, spiraled into scandal and shame.

But being a hero is easier said then done. Especially when there are those who expected to see the great Brody Madden fail. I craved nothing except being the best—willing to do anything to prove them wrong. But I went too far, and I tried too hard, and it broke me.

“At the time of going to print, Jordan Elliott was unavailable for comment.”

I met Brody Madden in my senior year of college. An Australian native on an international scholarship, I was the female soccer sensation with stars in her eyes and no room for a hotshot wide receiver with a chip on his shoulder.

But a heart bursting with ambition and a driving fire to succeed isn’t made of stone. I became his strength, his obsession, and the greatest love of his life. Only I wasn’t there when he needed me most.

This is a story about love and a game that takes everything. Where the path to glory is paved with sacrifice. Where pressure makes you, or breaks you, and triumph is born in the ashes of failure. Where two people’s end game will change everything.

These are all Standalones about different couples and Kate explains these books as being with her friends, they're fun, supsensful and sexy so a mix of everything. Kate is still writing book four now.

Kate McCarthy grew up in a small town outside of Port Macquarie, Australia. Raised in a house just a short walk to the beach, Kate enjoyed the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere and friendships that come from being raised in a friendly, small town area.

She now resides in Brisbane, Australia, a city in the state of Queensland where she works as an accountant, along with a sideline wedding cake business and her writing.

She has two children, two dogs, and a house in the suburbs, and a pile of friends and family dotted all over the country that help keep her sane.

When she’s not busy running after naughty kids, filthy dogs, crunching numbers, piping buttercream and writing books, you can find her curled up in bed in the early hours of the morning reading new books and re-reading old favourites.

Her favourite authors include (and are not limited to) J.R. Ward, Nalini Singh and JD Nixon. Her favourite books are the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward in which she longs to eventually join the brotherhood and change her name to Phierce Mutha.
